To get maximum benefit out of xanax, the dosage should be individualized. The normal dosage starts from 0.25mg to 0.5mg three times daily. The maximum dosage for this tablet is 4 mg and can be divided into three doses. For continuing the treatment, reassessment of the patient is essential. The patients may tend to depend on Xanax when the dosage and the duration of the treatment continue for the long period. In order to avoid withdrawal symptoms patients have to reduce the dosage gradually.
To be successful in panic disorder treatment, 1mg to10 mg of Xanax is to be given. The dosage of 5mg-6 mg of Xanax is approximately given daily to the affected patients. Some of them require a maximum of 10 mg of Xanax every day to get a positive response. The dosage should start with a minimum of 0.25 or 0.5 mg daily and increased after three to five days to 1 mg daily. The dosage should be distributed evenly throughout the day. To reduce the adverse effects, minimum dosage is advisable to the patients. Avoid abrupt discontinuation of taking medicine since it is very likely to result in adverse effects. A gradual decrease in dosage leading to getting rid of the medication can lessen chances of getting addicted.

Alprazolam (brand name is Xanax) comes under the category of benzodiazepines. The benzodiazepines are capable of activating central nervous system to produce calmness. As the human body contains some natural chemical such as GABA, Alprazolam works with it and bring positive effects.

Mindy, I was in a methadone clinic for two years. You are signing your own life away missing a benzo with methadone. The methadone will only show up if they test for methadone, it is like suboxone it does not show up as a true opiate. Leave why it really doesnt show up to the experts I am just going from experience. There is a chance the benzo will show in your system which is the XANAX not a Z. During my treatment at the clinic that was one the biggest no no’s you can do. I hope you get clean and sober through this program. Because if you are mixing xanax and methadone to get high at 17, you will be tracking up your arms by time your 20. Stope while you can!

i am going through the same thing. i did some research and talked to my doctor. if you use occasionaly in can take 3-5 days. if you use heavily like everyday in can take 6-8 weeks for the xanax to be gone. i dont know about the methadone i dont do that shit. my best friend od and died on that. dont let that be you. disregard the fucking asshole that responded to you as a whore, you are just going through some things and i totally understand. i’ve been thruogh this before and i’ve learned that you have to learn from your mistakes. this will all pass soon enough. you can e mail me if you need to. good luck.

I am not trying to be your mother or bitch at you by far. However, as an addict in Recovery for 2 years and 2 months… I’m advising you not to take Methadone and Xanex at the same time, in the same day, or within 3 days of eachother. Methadone and Xanex mixed is a lethal combination. I promise you that there isn’t anything you have taken that I haven’t, but please take my advise. Look up the overdose rate for a Methadone and Xanex mixture. You will not get good results. Just telling you. It may save your life!!!

I have had valium stay in my system for well over a month. I have a bad liver. the methadone clinic im on will eventually throw me off if it does no get out of my system soon. they go by the U/A not my health hx. they are thinking im taking them every day..

Have you ever heard of certo? You can buy it at the grocery store for about $4.00. It is in the canning isle. You mix one of the packets in anything youwant to drink. Drink it all down and then fill your container with water and drink it down then go to the bathroom and pee once and take your drug test within 1 hour of doing that and you will pass your drug test gauranteed. It doesn’t matter what kind of drug you’ve done you will pass the test.

You will have no problem passing your drug test! Both of those drugs stay in your system for about 3 days! It does depend on how often and how much you use but from your question I gather that you only used a little and only on those two occasions! You have nothing to worry about!

I will tell you from my personal experience because I had a drug test the next day after I had taken .50mg. . I want to give you all the facts. First of all I am about 40 lbs overweight. I took the Xanax around 130 am and had the drug test around 4pm the next day. I was nervous but I was straight because I knew I had a prescription for the medication which I could readily provide to my employer. I took the test and the administrator looked at the results for about a minute then she took it out and had someone else look at it. She then came back and told me I was OK to return to work. Thus it must have given some odd result after being in my system for nearly 12 plus hours. But I passed the test.

Xanex stays in your system up to 3 days tops 5. When you use xanex occasionally that is. Now if you take in for months in a row. THat’s probably a different story. Just to play it safe get a perscription for it. Go to a quack.

5mg in my opinion is a high dosage. Usually average does is 0.5-2mg. Average dosage would take 3 days within which it can be detected in urine. If it is 5 mg, then please wait for at least 2 weeks before taking the drug test

heres a straight answer from an addict whos been through this alot. one time use- 3 days to a week, frequent use anywhere from two weeks to a month. breakdown for other drugs: assuming the person is using regularly
weed- up to a month
coke- 2 to 3 days but can take up to a week
opiates- 2 to 3 days but can take up to a week
hope this has been helpful, p.s. drug testing is weak, and our drug laws are ridiculous.

yeah, i can confirm this also. i am a pharmacy technician and know that while you may not necessarily have a seizure if you stop taking xanax, it is a possibility. especially if you have been taking the drug for a long period of time. if someone has been taking xanax prescribed to them for years, a doctor usually will not take that person off the drug for this reason and others, unless they caught abusing the drug.

I speak from experience to say that this personally happened to me. I was living in Texas, and prior to that at age 16 I had my first blown panic attack (lived in Ohio). My mom took me to a psychiatrist who prescribed me 3 .25 mg. xanax per day, then bumped it to .50’s 3 times. When I moved at 21 to Texas, my psychiatrist had me on 4 1mg tablets per day, a pretty high dose for a 5′5 125 lb. woman. Anyhow, my then boyfriend didn’t like that, called me a pill head and worse names (very abusive too) and said I needed to quit so I did, all at once. I had a grand mall seizure about 2 or 3 days later at the restaurant I worked, went by ambulance to the hospital and they determined I did NOT have epilepsy or any seizure disorder after being CAT-scanned. Then they asked if I was on meds, I said no but I recently quit taking my xanax. They said that is why I had the seizure. If you want to quit, NEVER go from that high of a dose to 0 at once! They put me on .5’s for two weeks, then the next week decreased it by one less for two weeks, then down to .25’s. You must wean off slowly, and if you look that up in any physicians reference or talk to one they will or SHOULD know that. So it wasn’t from taking the pills, but from getting off them that way, and I am 35 now, have been back on them (panic attacks went away for 2 years, then came back). Now I am on Klonopin which work great for me, and they are also a benzodiazapine. Please don’t do what I did, it really scared me!

I was taking about 5-6mg Xanax mixing it with temezapan, diazapam, Ativan and other benzos for months…. Then one day I just stopped….
Had nose bleed, headaches, anxiety etc,
… All those symptoms resolved once I started iv-ing heroin everyday,
it is sooooo hard to stop even though I’ve only been taking smack for a few weeks
I think about it every minute of everyday, I’ve spent over 3k in less than a few weeks,
I don’t know why I started to do this? I hope u pass ur test good luck, it’s not so easy to just stop…just like everyone says… I know….. Even as much as I WANT to can’t…

I can feel your anguish in the few short sentences your wrote here. Nothing in life is ever easy, ever. YOU CAN DO IT. You can get off these drugs and move on with your life but like anything you have to really want it.
You need to have good people in your life who will support you and not knock you down. I watched my Dad die from abuse. I didn’t know how to help nor will I claim to be able to help you. I can tell you, YOU CAN DO IT. You’re no different than the hundreds of thousands of people who beat there addicitons.

This website is a bit misleading…Xanax should not be given to individuals for Depression. Benzos shrink your BDNF hormone (growth hormone, and hormone responsible for making new memories) and frontal cortex, putting one at a much higher risk for Depression. Also, it’s impossible to answer anyone’s question on here because there are multiple factors that contribute to how long Xanax stays in all of our systems (i.e. body chemistry, length of use, amount used, exercise, diet). If I were you, go by the 24-72 hours one time use as a base, and make sure you take into account some of the factors that determine how long it would be in your system (Am I exercising regularly? This would excrete the drug out of your system two-fold)

alright…perhaps this will clarify a few things. im 24, been on probation, been to jail etc. etc. mainly over drug charge bullshit. but, inna way. imma pro when it comes to getting away with what the man tells you, you cannot do… shit like cocaine, and opiates, (heroin, oxy’s) you can fucking bank on 3 days, no more then 5, if u hit it haaaaaard. but xanax can be tricky, ive known a few friends that i guess had a different metabolism then me… for ME xanax will not stay longer than 3 days. i drug test myself all the time b4 i see my probation officer. and i would normally eat 3-6 bars on the night when i used, (yes yes i know, i have waken up to many fat chicks)… but seriously, for the most part, if u eat a low dose, bank on giving it 5 whole days, and ull be good. IF you have ur test coming up real quick, where ur worried about it. fucking WATER UP@@@@~!@!~ water and cranberry juice works miracles, for weed,powder,dope,dones, whatever…. and by the way, if ur mixing xanax and methadone, just go ahead and shoot urself in the head now. take my word for it. ur lucky ur still alive. this’s coming from a man thats been to the ER many times…. or save urself all the trouble, get a girlfriend with big tits and likes to stay home having sex and watching action flicks… thats my best advice. the dope game gets old. best believe, xanax is some fucking dope… if ur taking it just to take it.

If you are so worried go to your local pharmacy and buy a drug test. Personally i dont know what the big hype is about xanax. Ive tried it and the shit makes me tired. If you want to treat anxiety try a little weed, it works great. Unfortunately i cant toke down no more. My doc has me on kolonopin which works great,it mellows you out. And now i sleep like a baby suckin on a tit. some of you people got some real issues. Im not fuckin einstein or anything but heres a clue scooby doo if your on probation maybe you should think of chillin on the drugs. Buncha mongoloids.

Actually… Weed does not help with anxiety, it can certainly make it worse. As far as any form on benzo addiction for recreational use, it’s nearly impossible to ever kick the craving once you start taking exceeded doses just here in there in binges of more than 4mgs at a time or if you are prescribed a daily dose in long term planning by a doctor either way It’s a dead end street! As far as methadone…. Had a Good friend OD on methadone & a benzos combination at the age of 19 almost 5 years ago and it was the 1st time he ever mixed it. So, as also a recovering addict of benzo’s. Try natural alternative such as Passion Flower, Viteman B12, St Johns wort and at night melatonin. Or…. you only head one way. Period.

To douche, that is a good name for you, just add bag to complete the name. I was injured in the Persian Gulkf and I still have shrapnel in my body. I was first given the standard pain medicine Morphine, then I underwent over 100 surgeries. Oxycontin was not availanle at the time, so I toiok demeral injections at home for severe breakthrough pain, and I was taking 4 mg of Dilaudid prn, then I was placed on a massive dose of Oxycontin, with 10 mg. oxy ir for breahthrough pain. About 1 year ago I was told that my mother would probably be gone by Christmas 2009, because these diot doctors where we live misread her PEt scan, and treated her for a cyst and did not do anything about the 2 tennis balkl sized tumors in her colon. She had surgery which we were toold she could not have due to the radiation she had received, but I took her to the Hollings Cancer Institute in Charleston S.C. and they said the surgery was very dangerous and there was a good chance that she would not make it off the table. I told the Dr,. I would be in my room across the street and they called me every hour. They said that her surgery could not have went any better and although she has a colonostomy she is cancer free, I was put on Xanax as I lost my fater at age 57 in 1980 due to this same disease and he went through hell. I was on the verge of having a nervous break down as I had been caring for my mother for 5 years at the time when they said they cured her cancer with radiation. We are going to file a malpractice suit this month against her entire local cancer team. My mother is all the famnily I have.I am not married and I have no kids, I was injured when I was 29 and I am 100 % disabled and I got trained in precious metals buying and as well as becoming a professional coin dealer and I make a good living, and I had to pay to redo my mom;s home to make it handicap accesible. I put in a new bathroom wityh a hidrotherapy tub, and a handicap toilet and I replaced alkl of her applainces that came with her new home in 2001.

By the way, how many tours did you serve in Iraq and Afghanistan> Make up a good lie and tell us you are a Navy Seal or a member of the Delta Force. I was a navak Aviator and I was not injured di=ue to enemy action, I was injured when I landed aboard the carrier and the catch cable failed and I hit the water inverted with the ejection seat rockets only into about 1.2 secong=d o=f their burn. I woke up on the Hospital ship and the sent to Germany then to Walter Reed where my father spent all of 1969 at. He served from 1941 until 1971.I then spent a year at a rehab hospital. So know what your talking about douchebag. You are a punk and a loser. Before my injuries I never used any drugs,including alcohol.

Is there any kind of anti siesure med that one can take to ward off the risk of the problems associated with xanax withdrawl. My doctor just gave me my last 15 .5 mil. bottle. I am having a half pill every 3 days.Trying to ween my self off.Anyone out there tried this method and does it work.Ive been taking one a day for for 2 years. I have some shaky feelings and hot flashes some times i feel like my heart skips a beat.I also am take clonidine for high blood presure. I think this might be keeping some of the withdrawl from getting too bad.It is a b p med but also is used to help people get off alcohol cigs and meth. Jimbo.. 1st off. Dont bother answering a guy like the Douche. He is just trying to get a response from you. he has no interest in anything you say..
As for ANY withdrawals are concerned, I am big fan of the Saboxone. For some reason Saboxone allows all the physical withdrawals to be eliminated. Its a wonder drug. You will hear stories that you have to THEN come off of the saboxone too. NOT TRUE !
One thing you have to realize is that MOST withdrawal, except for the 4 or 5 days of physical bs you have to go through, is really just mental.
In order to get saboxone, you have to see a Dr that prescribes it. (If you live in NJ, I can refer one to you). Then you go for a checkup and he starts you off with about 1 weeks worth. (he wants you coming back in every week so he can monitor you)
Believe me, 1 week is plenty. Figure he gives you 3 8Mg. pills er day for 7 days. Thats 21 pills. You will need MAYBE 3? LOL. Sell the rest for all I care. They go for about $20.00 on the street.
Take the pill and break it in 1/2. The take the 1/2 and break that 1/2 into another 1/2. You will essentially have an 1/4 of the pill to eat.
Take 1/4 of the pill in the am and then in the pm. If you still feel shitty, then eat another 1/4. always place them under your tongue and let them disolve. In about 10 minutes you will feel fine.
Be careful of the dose because if you eat more than you need, you will probably get high from it.
Thats it Jimbo.. no worries. AND REMEMBER, most of it is in your head amigo ! Be stronger.. Dont listen to too many whispers..

How long have you been clean? I just wanted to say that Im glad you Fought the “WHISPER” I know how hard it is to not listen, although i give into it once in awhile im doing my very best to say “nah man im good”….lol. As for saboxon I had very unusual side effects off it myself, It was strange and no one i know has ever experienced it themselves, have you ever heard of it effecting anyone badly?? I havent used it since and it happened twice. I think its funny, not ha ha funny but uh funny…lol that all the really smart and articulate ppl are drug users. I’m giving you a complement by the way. Try taking Saboxone. It will eliminate ANY physical withdrawals (sweats, shakes, sorness, nausea etc etc) from usually ANY drug, including Xanax.
A special DR prescribes it (If you live in NJ I can recommend one) and when he gives you a weeks worth (3 a day for 7 days) you will really only need 4 pills. Take 1/4 of the pillin the morning(break in 1/2 and then that 1/2 in 1/2) and then 1/4 pill in the afternoon.. you may need 1/4 in the evening (around 8pm) just for the 1st day or two..
Let it dissolve under your tongue and you will be fine in 10 minutes. Once your physical symptoms PASS, then you wont be so paranoid. When the paranoia passes, you are able to cope better mentally. 70% of kicking the habit is MENTAL ! Its ALL MENTAL after 5 days or week.
Try to get the saboxone. not every DR can prescribe it. If you cant, then try looking on the street. An 8Mg pill goes for $20.00
they’re expensive (on the street) BUT work like Magic !

Hey my names adam. im 18 and just got out of jail after 2 months, and shit im doing the same shit i did before. its monday, i just snorted 5 0.5 mg xanax about ten minutes ago. i have a drug test friday. Again, 1m 18 and 6′ feet tall and weigh about 150 lb. I just want to say thanks to “the voice” for speaking up for addicts…and I can relate to all of you. I am 22 years old and have had an on-going problem with roxicodone and xanax for almost 4 years. I have booted roxis and oxys. I have put myself in rehab twice and let me tell you, xanax withdrawls are a bitch. You can die from them. Benzos are said to have the most harmful effects on the body when detoxing. But you can do it if you really want to. I have recently started working on getting myself off these drugs for good. I no longer shoot up and have not taken xanax in over a month. And I did this all in the privacy of my own home…while my boyfriend sat next to me with a prescription of both roxis and xanax in his pocket. I am still working on getting off the pain killers. I am down to 3 a day. Not bad for a girl who a few months ago was taking 15 30mg roxis and 10-14mg xanax a day! I would still reccomend getting professional help if you are as bad off as I was. I want everyone to remember something…being an addict does not make you a bad person. It can happen to anyone…even a girl with a 100% 4 year scholarship for college that lives on her own, pays her own bills, goes to school full time, and works 2 jobs(that was me 4 yrs ago). So I hope this gives my fellow addicts hope…and makes all you “bashers” want to put your foot in your mouth. Addicts, remember one more thing…there is only one person that can judge you…and he’s damn sure not anyone that’s writing on this page!

I go to a methadone clinic and it has helped so much when i had given up all hope. but, recently i lost my job and my ole lady has been callin up her sugar daddy to help get the money for our dose and other things. i don’t want to get back to hell that was our lives before,and the stress of it all caused me to break down and do a couple bars last night and we have a random urine screen every week i think she will be devastated if she finds out i did and i dont know how to mask the benzos while keeping the methadone in my system. any advice from anyone?

Wow……I have just spent the last half hour reading the posts on this site, and ONE thing is SURE: there isn’t a damn person on this site that is in the position to give advice. I originally checked this out because I go to a methadone clinic, take UA’s weekly, and was trying to figure out how long Xanax can be detected. I have come to a conclusion that the answer is IT IS DIFFERENT FOR EACH INDIVIDUAL!!! As for mixing benzos and methadone, most of you are right— it can be lethal. I personally am 32 years old, and have been using a mix of drugs everyday for the last 15 years of my life. My advice to those that are still fairly young— STOP while you still can. It only gets harder- eventually drugs will become such a part of your chemical psychological makeup that it will be too hard.

I agree with you Shugarnspyce there are too many individual factors to take in consideration to give a straight answer to anyone & I was also surfing this website for the same reason, Im 30yrs old been on a Methadone clinic since I was 21, I get carries so I only get tested once a month because Ive always been clean, but this last month I took a couple lmg alporalazam generic for (Xanax) Im definately feeling guilty & regretting it, but I did it, so theres not much I can do about it now. I bought a couple of at home benzo tests from ebay, & been experimenting a little, btw Im a 30 yr old 135lb 5ft3in female & on 80mg of methadone I consider myself to have a fairly high metabolizm, I also find that if I had missed my methadone dose (It has happened to me before in the last 9yrs of being a mmt patient)I am also one who starts going into withdrawls if I dont take my dose exactly the same time everyday, not to mention if I miss just 1 day, its hell, I know some people have missed a day with no real ill effects, so therefore is the reason I conclude I have a high motabolizm, because I know im on the right dose so I dont really need a increase, but my point was that if I have had to miss a day that I know my motabolizm is especially high on that day. I took a about 2 1mg xanax on 5/20/10 today is the 24th, I have 1 benzo test left & I am saving it till its closer to the time Im due for my drug test which will be the 1st week of june sometime, Im thinking between the 1st & 3rd of june.That would give me a little over a week to not take anymore xanax which Im definately not doing again.
I did however take xanax on one other occasion this month before this last time on the 20th which was around the 8th & took about 1mg 3 times that day which would be 3mgs total that day & then I took one of the drug tests I bought 4 days after I had taken it, & the test (which may or may not be simular to what the clinic uses but the tests I bought are FDA aproved) was negative for benzos, 2 lines being negative & 1 line being positive, one of the lines was faint but definately noticable, & according to the directions included with the tests even a faint line is considered negative as long as both lines are visable, I dont know how a clinic or whatever lab giving the test would determine a result that had a faint line) & there are certainly far more reliable tests out there that could be used, however I dont think most mmt clinics use highly sophisticated tests, but then again I dont know, thats just my opinion,I do know my clinic tests for creatine ,ph level, specific gravity & methadone motabolites as well as all the drugs they test for. So drinking lots of water, coffee gatorade or any liquid “right before” a drug test would be a big no no it would be a automatic fail because the ph & gravity of the urine would be way off. but drinking liquid & exercising in the days up untill the test would be a good idea, I would personally quit drinking large ammounts of liquids at least a day or 2 right before the test so it wouldnt be too diluted. Anyway I hope this helps someone. I am still nervous about my upcoming test but Im hoping after 10days since Im not a real user of benzos of any type that I will test negative, Its not worth fucking up losing my carries for. I think if anyone is in my simular situation who isnt a heavy user of benzos & isnt getting a real sophisicated drug test will be fine in about 7 days but if you want to absolutely be safe I think 2weeks or 15days or so it would “definately” be out of your system. I do feel like a giving yourself just a week to get clean is definately pushing it a little but I think you really only need 72-96hrs at the least since xanax is a very fast acting drug & doesnt have a really long half life like some other drugs do.

Hey, I came across this site because i was trying to find something that can help with the side effects i am left with after using xanax. I wouldn’t say i was a heavy user but i have been taking them a lot the last few months. I also do other recreational drugs. I have gotten to the point where i am up and down with my moods, im getting paranoid about the slightest things and over think everything. My boyfriend and i are in the exact same boat because we do it together most of the time, but now we are both feeling the effects. We were having 2 or 3 2mg and then 4 or 5 1 mg at a time. Im a big festival party person, but i really think its time for me to stop because i can see the damage it is doing both myself and him. Does anyone know how i can get all those hormones back? Well first off at 14 years old U dont need to be taking Xanax but if U must, I would say no more than .5 mg. At 110lbs and being ur first time, anymore than that would prolly put u in a coma. I am 36, a pot smoker, drinker for 10 years prior to taking Xanax the first time and i took 2mg and woke up the next morning, sitting on the couch in the same place i was when i took them. Be very careful if u must but i would suggest not taking them if u dont have to. And damn sure dont take more then .5 mg on ur first time!!!

I’ve been all through this site and can’t find any type of response or inquiry like what I have.
I’ve got to take a piss test for a promotion at my job in a few days but have a 1mg per day prescription to Xanax and have been steadily taking it for one month now. Last night, I took 8mg of it and like a dumbass and got drunk. My concern is when I take my piss test in about 4 maybe 5 days max,do I need to be conerned that the Xanax will show up in higher concentrations? From what I hear it’s the type of test where you piss in a cup, they spin the piss in some machine and then pass or fail you. Do the labs even look for amounts or is is just a cutoff amount that flags you as a pass/fail? Do I even need to even need to be worried amounts the amount? If so, i can obviously I can pass since I have a prescription, but the question is if I don’t take anymore after taking it for four-five days straight, should I be good ? Like, will it show a lower concentration where I will not appear to be an abuser and can justify the xanax showing up on a 1mg per day prescription. No bull shit answer or replys to this please.
In addition, just want you all to know that Xanax does have a purpose if you take it right. It’s good to use as a short term fix to anxiety. Once you start abusing it is when you screw yourself. I used to be hooked on these when I was younger and almost killed myself over it. If you have absolutely must be a rebel or need some type of “way to get away”, smoke pot.

OK check this. I’m in a pain mangement program and was at the bar latnight, this girl was all over me type shit. she was telling me all about her prescription use, believe me she has no idea I have shit. ??My friend was offered a job pending drug test. This friend takes methadone which is prescribed BUT doesn’t want employer to know.She is going to stop her med immediately so as to not test for this drug. Should she? I’m on probation and have a RIDICULOUS probation officer.. i have quit smoking pot for about 3 weeks now after smoking daily for 15 years! I have also taken xanax every month for a few months not. I have a questine I am 7 months pregnant and I have been put on bed rest due to some pregnancy problems, I am a normally ACTIVE Person ( I won’t even sit down and watch T.V) been on bed rest had givin me alot of anxiety.
